How the Foopy Score works

Two trusted sources, one clear number out of 10.

01

Food Hygiene Rating

The official UK government score (0–5) from the Food Standards Agency. Inspected by your local council.

02

Google Reviews

Real customer ratings from Google (0–5 stars). Shows what diners actually think of the place.

03

Foopy Score

We add them together for a score out of 10. Scores are weighted by review count and by how recent the hygiene inspection was — older inspections carry a small penalty.

Example: Food hygiene 5 + Google Reviews 4.2★ = 9.2 / 10 Foopy Score

Google ratings with fewer than 200 reviews are adjusted towards the London average (4.0★) to reduce the effect of a small sample. Hygiene inspections older than 2 years carry a small score deduction — the fresher the data, the more reliable the score.
